Here at Milfton Rock we love new music, like really, we do. The best thing is when someone sends us a link and says “Hey guys check out this band, you’ll dig them” and we do, we’ll listen to anything. Today, although been out for a little bit now the band in question is one called EndeverafteR and their brilliant album “Kiss or Kill.”
As I have it on now and am trying to type whilst playing air guitar and the occasional air drum it just shows me how much of a great record it is as it has me hooked! This album kicks off with a bang and just keeps banging. It’s rare that I play an album all the way through without skipping a track but I’m finding it hard to fault “Kiss or Kill” as I find that as varied as it sounds; shades of the Stones, Iron Maiden, Shihad, The Darkness and others, this album embodies (no way I got to use embodies in a review) everything I love about music.
It’s so diverse that you never know what the next track will sound like yet the band keeps its own sound. Confused? Yeah me too, but you need to hear it to understand. Produced by Stacey Jones of American Hi Fi fame, and even a special guest appearance by Butch Walker show that this isn’t some band that has just released a rock record, there’s something special about this one and I truly hope that people out there will take notice.
So many tracks can be singled out, but I’ll give you a few that really stand out in my books. “Next Best Thing” is my song of the year, there, I said it. Lyrically brilliant “Lying beside you in a dream and I guess I’m ok, whatever that means” that is perfect. The song delivers a ballad of such power that it could top the charts anywhere given a chance. It is the best rock ballad I have heard in a number of years and you’d agree; trust me, or your money back.
“I Wanna Be Your Man” the lead track on the album is fast, sweaty and is that song you love hearing at a gig, gang vocals, fist pumping track with one of my biggest weaknesses, a harmony guitar solo. Guys, you had me at hello. “Baby Baby Baby” the lead single from the album is this generations “Cherry Pie” or “Wild Side” a sleazy rock track that probably has girls taking theirs tops off to it right now somewhere in the world. Good work boys. Note to self, self, write a song like this. Oh and it has the ending that EVERY song in the world should.
“Gotta Get Out” has more hooks than a bait and tackle shop! It’ll leave you smiling, singing along and your foot a tappin’ til you can’t tap no more! Simple, effective rock song! “All Night” summed up in 3 words. Fun. Oh wait, that’s 1. Well it is fun. That’s all I need to say. “From the Ashes of Sin” I think sounds like the best song that Faith No More never wrote. Blistering guitar and massive melody, musically this is my favourite track on the album. What I love about this album is what I mentioned before, the diversity. Straight from the previous track just mentioned, you hear a beautiful acoustic guitar pick the start of the next track “Long Way Home” a moving sombre ballad and a magnificent end to an album that will arise as one of those “Man you have to grab this album by this band EndeverafteR, its killer.”
If I gave albums stars for reviews and it was out of say, 17, I’d give it 17. No I’m not just sucking up, I really think this album is that good. But you make up your own mind…
